Valentine’s Effect Causes 40% to Explore Divorce — Another reason that Valentine’s Day can a ridiculous, lose-lose holiday, where those in relationships must do all sorts of things out of obligation and those not in relationships are made to feel like they are missing out.  If you celebrate and enjoy it, that’s great, but don’t let the “Valentine’s Day Tax” suck the fun out of it for you.  And the link offers more evidence that people are lousy at honoring their marriage commitments, and that no-fault divorce should be done away with.  These are the most important contracts made in society, yet are the only ones in which one side can unilaterally walk away from without cause.

Studies show that egalitarian marriage results in less sex – and  more divorce!  Uh, so why do so many churches and Christians push these failed ideas?

The more traditional the division of labor, meaning the greater the husband’s share of masculine chores compared with feminine ones, the greater his wife’s reported sexual satisfaction.

[…][Study co-author] Brines believes the quandary many couples find themselves in comes down to this: “The less gender differentiation, the less sexual desire.” In other words, in an attempt to be gender-neutral, we may have become gender-neutered.

[…]The chores study seems to show that women do want their husbands to help out — just in gender-specific ways. Couples in which the husband did plenty of traditionally male chores reported a 17.5 percent higher frequency of sexual intercourse than those in which the husband did none.

Naturalism is stopping more science today than fundamentalism | Uncommon DescentDespite what Bill Nye & Co. think, Darwinism is the science-stopper, not Intelligent Design.

The decision to endorse a naturalistic explanation rather than advance agnosticism about the origins of hidden overlapping codes is a pointer to hidden ideologies in origins-science. It seems that as long as materialism/naturalism is presumed, then a great number of unwarranted assertions (usually linked to Darwinism or abiogenesis) go unchallenged in academic papers. As soon as it is pointed out that only intelligent agents write codes, there is an outcry that science is being subverted by religious fundamentalists. However, the converse is true: intelligent design theory is based on the evidence of complex specified information. The evidences for naturalistic alternatives all evaporate under close scrutiny. More.

Naturalism is stopping more science today than fundamentalism, by forbidding many discussions and making many questions unaskable. By preferring famous fables and long, convoluted just-so stories by definition.

Primaries Matter | RedState.

Primaries matter. Mitch McConnell was the deciding vote in the Senate to move forward. John Boehner, Eric Cantor, and House GOP leaders structured this deal in the House. Primaries matter. Until you defeat these guys, you will do nothing to change Washington.

If they are going to give Barack Obama a blank check, we should cancel their paychecks at the ballot box.

Facebook adding new gender options for usersFifty of them.  If you really care about people you won’t encourage them in self-destructive delusions.  If a male thinks he’s a female, he’s still a male.  If he thinks he’s a dog, he’s still a human.

Facebook said the changes, shared with The Associated Press before the launch on Thursday, initially cover the company’s 159 million monthly users in the U.S. and are aimed at giving people more choices in how they describe themselves, such as androgynous, bi-gender, intersex, gender fluid or transsexual.

Winning Olympic Skier Alex Bilodeau of Canada Inspired by Disabled Brother|This is a great story.  But it was odd to see pro-legalized abortion people cheer for this.  They would have applauded killing his brother in the womb.  That’s the “right” that people like Wendy Davis fight for so strenuously: To kill the (potentially) disabled in the womb.

Canada’s Alex Bilodeau explained his motivation after becoming the first freestyle skier to repeat his gold medal win: “When I’m on my skis my colleagues are my inspiration. They are pushing me every day to be a better skier – to go faster, to go longer. But a four-year process is very long, and when I wake up in the morning, it’s my brother.”

See the NBC background piece on Alex and his brother Frederic, who has cerebral palsy, here. Says Alex: “I always complain – and he has every reason in the world to complain, and he never does. And why is that? He enjoys life. He takes the best out of it.”
