About that Presbyterian Minister Who Doesn’t Believe in God

Ah, the “Christian” Left, who openly mock the essentials of the faith then get wounded when we point out that they are non-Christians.

I deeply appreciate it when wolves get warm and take off the sheep’s clothing.  I usually have compassion for people who get caught up with false teachers.  But if you follow people like John Shuck — who aren’t just non-Christian, but anti-Christian — you get what you deserve.  Via I’m a Presbyterian Minister Who Doesn’t Believe in God (emphasis mine):

For example, I believe that:

Religion is a human construct

The symbols of faith are products of human cultural evolution

Jesus may have been an historical figure, but most of what we know about him is in the form of legend

God is a symbol of myth-making and not credible as a supernatural being or force

The Bible is a human product as opposed to special revelation from a divine being

Human consciousness is the result of natural selection, so there’s no afterlife

In short, I regard the symbols of Christianity from a non-supernatural point of view.

And yet, even though I hold those beliefs, I am still a proud minister. But I don’t appreciate being told that I’m not truly a Christian.

And of course it is posted on an atheist website.  What better way to mock God more?

Wolves rely on biblical ignorance.  If you read the Bible at all you’ll know that what he says is ridiculous.  Why would you pick up a book if you really thought it contained literally thousands of blasphemous lies, let alone claim to be a “minister” of that religion?

Run, don’t walk, from the “Christian” Left.

  1. I believe the individuals who will experience God’s harshest judgments will be priestly types–clergy–who have been entrusted with proclaiming and defending the Scriptures, who renege and tell people it’s not true. These are modern-day Gnostics who imagine themselves erudite, but who, actually, are common and sold-out to the world. Only God knows how many people they mislead into harm by their personal influence. The good thing is, Scripture says they will be doing this. Even they prove the Scriptures true. They are playing the roles of the false prophets and fools, minions of the antichrist, whom Scripture has warned us about, in this Script the Lord wrote aeons ago.

  2. Interesting timing. I just read that article myself, and when I read your title of this one, I thought, “Is he talking about …?” and you were.

If we’re going to redefine terms (Shuck is deeply dedicated to redefining “marriage”), then we can easily redefine “Christian” to not include “Christ” and “theism” to not include God and … except, of course, we will have (already have) lapsed into nonsense. That a John Shuck has faced investigation by his denomination and been declared a minister in good standing is a commentary on the PCUSA more than the atheist “Christian”.
